November 2009 - Habitat For Humanity Fundraiser
Portage, WI – Portage Lumber recently collected donations in the amount of $230 to benefit Habitat for Humanity in our community. Portage Lumber is one of many Do it Best Corp. members nationwide who are working with their local Habitat for Humanity affiliates. Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has built and rehabilitated simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner families. Habitat homes are sold to families at no profit and are financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners’ monthly mortgage payments are then used to build still more Habitat houses. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor – sweat equity – into building their Habitat house and the houses of others. Portage Lumber is located at 1009 East Wisconsin Street, and has been serving customers in the Columbia County area for over 55 years. Portage Lumber offers a complete line of: hardware, plumbing, lumber, paint, home décor, building materials, lawn care, tools, electrical, rental equipment and many more supplies for everyone from the do-it-yourself homeowner to the professional.
